100% agree with this! It's been dangerous to navigate through Rose St. by bike with this behavior occurring. I mentioned in another comment that our 8yo was very nearly hit by a motorcycle peeling out and speeding down the street for the entertainment of onlookers last week.

Makimg the street a dead-end won't solve the problem.for thw northern block of Rose St. Traffic humps will.
Good to the new street signs posted today for parking.

BPD should have an unmarked car sitting on the street to try and stop the speeders. Where are they all and what are they doing? I always see a lot of cruisers in their parking lot..

Gil, infrastructure works all the time. Let's make it so they can't make dangerous moves on the street. That would free up the police to do other parts of their job.

But they arent really doing anything except driving around.. I always see a lot of them at cumberland farms getting coffee or food!

If the police are so ineffective, why would you think they would be able to stop the bad driving?

They could park on the street like i said and maybe stop some of them.. When is this happening, more at night or in the day?

Please be advised, traffic calming can be a bit of a process. Here is a link to information on initiating traffic calming on your street. https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/DPW/Traffic-Calming-Neighborhood-Enhancement-Program. Currently, traffic calming in Burlington is initiated by residents. At least 1/3 of the affected street or neighborhood needs to be interested in traffic calming, which is demonstrated through a neighborhood petition. The template is available on the website. Once a petition is received, it enters the project queue. The DPW manages an average of 4 traffic calming projects at any one time and new projects are advanced in the order they are received. The process generally takes a minimum of 2 years and up to 4 years to complete, while the City balances staff to manage projects and budgets to install traffic calming.

I would suggest that if you feel unsafe at any time please call the Burlington Police Department (BPD). We have traffic regulations in ordinance which may take care of your concerns and the BPD is good at enforcing them, they just need to know what is going on. Why does it take over 2 years to get traffic calming. I just read all of the red tape crap that you need to go through and its rediculous what you need to do! It shouldnt take that long! If Miro wanted something done you would drop everything and do it for him!

I contacted your office over two months ago and left messages with you. No one got back to me about this. Last week I left amother message and was told to wait a week to hear back from someone. Now you are telling me I needed to go around and have neighbors sign a petition! Get your act together and help us solve this problem. You want us to wait for engineers to look at this or do you want a petition signed!?!

Even saw a DPW truck and a school bus speeding down Rose St. this week.
