Description
A, 18" deep, foot-wide sinkhole has developed following sidewalk reconstruction on Pearl Street. This location is underneath the newly placed asphalt tie-in with the concrete sidewalk/driveway ramp , adjacent to my gate pin concrete element at the center of our driveway. I have more photos, but the one here shows a black crack next to the. concrete blob at the pin. For now, the asphalt layer supports some weight but it is spanning over the void and very thin. Tech icily this is on my property, but the defect is from the city construction work. I believe the gravel substrate of the asphalt patch-in was not thoroughly compacted during the construction and has settled, leaving the asphalt layer unsupported.
