Description

The weeds at this neglected, abandoned rental property is now over two-feet tall. This house is a continual problem and is ruining the neighborhood. There is an absent landlord using an incompetent/unregulated property management firm to abuse the local residents, and the city does not seem to care. Every police call for the entire street has been to this residence over the last few years, multiple complaints, year after year arise from this neglected property, loose dog attacks, drug dealing, domestic...and the city takes half-hearted action. The city's enforcement of rental property regulations is very reactive in nature, relying on citizens to be the bad guys and complaining about neighbors, why is this so? What is the purpose of a Code Enforcemenmt buerocracy if they are not more proactive? People are getting ready to move from this stree because the city allows this nonsense to continue. The kind of people who make this town liveable have given up and soon the city will have another area of town begin its inevitable decline into a Merrimac Park with rental houses and chaos. The city lets inompetent, unprofessional small scale property investors ruin so many neighborhoods and seems to be beholden to them for some reason. Quit punishing us taxpayers who just want the city to enforce its own rules without the neighbors continually having to play cop for them.
