Description

I am writing as a pedestrian that frequently needs to walk down state street. As outdoor/indoor dining has reopened it has been increasingly hard to avoid mask-less diners while walking down the street. Often, the only way to avoid walking right next to these diners is to walk in the street. Now, this upper state street restaurant is building out a patio in the street to expand their outdoor dining area. This eliminates any way to walk down this block of state street while avoiding mask-less restaurant goers. In fact many of the upper state street restaurants are taking over the entire sidewalk area for dining. How are folks that need to use the sidewalk to access their dwellings suppose to be able to safely walk without having to expose themselves to folks eating and drinking with no masks? I would like the see the city consider how to create safe walkways where folks that don't want to come within 6ft feet of people with no masks on can safely walk down city sidewalks.
