I agree there should be some measures taken - the city is now deciding (still) about which plan to implement to get that truck traffic Off Home Ave, and I hope they do it soon! Have they put in speed bumps? That shouldn't be too difficult or expensive, and might help in the interim. Either that or a patrol - Something to slow them down. That is really bad. My sympathies.

The city has done nothing and thats the problem! Every once in awhile i see the cops sitting in the champlain school parking lot and thats as far as i bave seen them go to watch traffic..

Truck traffic between Shelburne and Flynn is a problem that would be transferred onto other neighbors. The existing CP design is a disaster that dead-ends Pine St. at Queen City Park— a most defective design. Speed bumps will only be more disruptive as the trucks rigid chassis bounce over them. Patrolling would likely improve the condition but limited traffic control availability will likely not change much.

I just read it and some of it doesnt make any sense, they dont want all way stop lights,at pine and maple st. There is already all way stop signs at those,streets and stop lights will give people a longer time to cross but i do agree that it will back up traffic a lot longer especially during rush hour traffic.

You may have missed an important detail. Instead of traffic lights the new design includes mini-roundabouts. Statistically they are way safer than traffic lights; stops signs too to a lesser extent. Traffic moves through the intersection faster with less pollution.

The original request is based on REAL issues faced by this community right now. It is typical for the Pine Street Coalition to hijack a conversation that is expressing the VERY REAL negative health impacts being experienced by this neighborhood right now. That includes the South Meadow neighborhood.

There is no legitimate workable new design for the Champlain Parkway that has financing. There is a design that a small group of retired full-time protesters have come up with who tirelessly attempt to drown out the voices of the real south end citizens that live on Home, Flynn and Pine. These retired (nothing can ever change) protest groups are why nothing ever gets done in Burlington. It is protest as retirement activity. Which is fine, but the reality is, the people that are truly affected by these things do not have time to go to endless public hearings like the one last night. We are working. We are raising families. We are taking care of our elders. All of whom do not want to be run over by speeding traffic while attempting to cross Home Ave. to go their their friends house, or to the store, or to catch the school bus etc!

Please get involved in the Burton Higher Ground development. If this goes through then traffic will be ten fold at the very time your street has the occasional quiet. We need many improvements in infrastructure on the streets and also a toning down of the plans for this venue size (1500 person concert venue). We need a sidewalk and bike lane that is safe so at least some can go without car on Home Ave... and considering bus shuttle would be a good idea.

The city is not doing anything and as far as i can tell they are ignoring a lot of these requests! They say they will have to do a traffic study which they say takes 2 to 4 years which is rediculous if you ask me! We pay high enough taxes so what does the city do with all the money except paint lines in the road.. You have to keep after them, keep calling them or go in and ask them whats going on...
