Thank you for your alert regarding the need for pothole repairs on Church Street running from Miami Boulevard to Providence Place. Please be advised that Church Street is a state-owned road. Therefore, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is solely responsible for its repair and maintenance. Although our Town of Morrisville Public Works Street Division is aware of the poor road conditions on state roads running through Morrisville, unfortunately our Morrisville Street Division has neither the budget capability nor the directive to do the extensive and permanent repairs needed to maintain state roads. However, with regard to this alert, please be further advised that in response to a prior repair request regarding Church Street that we forwarded to the NCDOT, we were recently informed by Mr. Steve Halsey, the NCDOT’s Road Maintenance Engineer for Wake County (Phone Number: 919-733-4768), that Church Street is a part of the NCDOT’s 2012 resurfacing contract. Therefore, as indicated by Mr. Halsey, the NCDOT will be resurfacing Church Street from the Durham/Wake County line to Morrisville Carpenter Road sometime in the Spring or Summer of 2012. If you would like to comment directly to the NCDOT regarding state road maintenance concerns, please access their reporting form at this link: https://apps.dot.state.nc.us/ContactUS/PostComment.aspx?Unit=Division_5 . You may also wish to contact the NCDOT’s Customer Service line at 1-877-DOT-4YOU (1-877-368-4968). If in the future you need to contact our Public Works Street Division regarding repair issues on roads maintained by the Town of Morrisville, please utilize the “Report A Concern” option on the Home Page of our Town website at www.townofmorrisville.org . Again, thank you for your alert. We sincerely hope that the information supplied herein will be of assistance to you. –Pam Benfield, Public Works Department–Town of Morrisville
