Has there been any movement on this issue? Drove by the house again this morning and nothing has changed. I happened to see one of the neighbors in their yard when I drove by and asked if they noticed anyone from the town at the house or anything. They said no.

Can someone from the town please at least knowledge this issue and give SOME indication if anything will be done about this? Or will this continue to be ignored as it has been for years....?

This person is in clear and excessive violation of the zoning regulations of WH. Something should be done about this immediately, as it has gone on long enough. Here is the section of the regulation that pertains to this issue:

"60.11 UNREGISTERED VEHICLE STORAGE
60.11.1 Residential Districts. In no case shall there be more than either one (1) unregistered vehicle or one (1) registered motor vehicle not in condition for use on public high-ways on any zoning lot. Additionally, any such vehicle must be parked or stored with-in a fully enclosed garage or similar structure, or on a paved parking area located to the rear of the principal structure, but not within any yard setback areas."

Has there been any movement on this issue? Looks like someone's done the research for the city, can the city please do their part and enforce their own regulations?

Drove passed this house this morning and it looks like there is actually some cleaning going on! Doesn't look like any of the cars are actually gone, but let's just say the tires have been filled and they've been moved around some. I wouldn't say this issue is "resolved", hopefully just the beginning of more much needed cleanup though...

So, maybe one of the cars was removed after all of these weeks... It looks like one was moved on to the street no less, has been sitting there for weeks, maybe a month (right in front of the beat up truck that hasn't moved in months either). It has a completely flat rear tire, sitting on the rim, what looks like a busted out headlight, and is just an eyesore. I'm sure not what the WHPD would consider "street legal". Is the town planning to take care of this issue once and for all?

This issue on Woodland Street is being handled. The exact address is
18 Woodland Street and a letter of violation was sent out in Oct. giving
the homeowner 30 days to clean up.
I will be reinspecting the property this week and if it is not cleaned
up
I will issue a $100 a day fine.

Basically, it looks like this person did the absolute BARE minimum to avoid the specific zoning regulation he/she was violating (included above). One way he/she did this was to move one of the cars that is clearly not legally drivable on the road (flat tire, broken head light, etc), and park it on the street for almost 2 months now. I believe we just had about 4 days of parking bans in WH and the car just sat there rotting in the street during the entire thing. All this while the plows just went around them and caused the road to only get half plowed. I see someone else reported the issue with the car already in a separate ticket so I am closing this ticket and we'll see if anyone will do anything about the gross violation of WH's laws now.

I'm on it. Look for BIG changes by tomorrow night.

Not a thing changed, as I suspected would happen. I am posting the zoning regulations regarding parking cars on a public street on the other ticket for this person. Closing this again.

Opening this back up. I took my woodland st shortcut to work again and the junk car collection has regrown to about 7-8 cars... again... Some in the street, some in the driveway, some in the yard. Only one of them looks like it is ever even touched, never mind moved or driven. One is parked in the yard next to the driveway (I believe zoning requires it to be on a paved surface or garage). There is an unregistered junk car parked in the driveway AND a registered junk car (that is NOT street legal) parked in the driveway as well. Zoning only allows one or the other. It looks like one of these was the car that was parked in the street and this person moved it to the yard (violating zoning) to avoid it getting towed I imagine. This person now has more zoning violations than ever. Not sure how the city can claim they have money issues when they allow this kind of thing to continue over and over, while ignoring this potential revenue stream. Below is the zoning regulation that this person is violating with multiple vehicles:

Doesn't bother me in the least. If it did, I would do something about it.

Bob, if everyone followed your lead as far as your ignorance to the laws and regulations of the city, then we would have chaos, our taxes would be even higher than they already are, etc. Should I go on? If you don't have anything constructive to add to the resolution of this issue, then I'm not sure why you even commented. SeeClickFix is a way for people to "do something about it", and that's what I'm doing. How about the fact that the city should just be proactive concerning these issues instead of putting residents in the horrible position of having to police our own neighborhoods.

Residents like this make West Haven look like a total dump, pure and simple.

Nothing has changed here. 4-5 broken down cars/trucks in the driveway and front yard on any given day, they never move. Any cars that are registered are likely not drivable, unless driving directly on the rims is now legal. Truck that has been parked in the street for over a year now and has not moved an inch, weeds growing around it, the works. I wonder what kinds of interesting things the DEP would find in this yard if they ever did some soil samples.

Call Kevin Clark in Planning and Zoning 937-3611 I believe he enforces the code on that if it is unregistered. If it is registered that sounds like a police matter and you should be able to have it towed?

Surprisingly enough, I drove past this house the other day and it looks like these people are within zoning code now. Still a dump, still most likely a DEP field day, sure, however the issues covered in this ticket seem to have been taken care of.
