I very much agree with this complaint.

Yup... they have trimmed some back but overall the height of all of the boulevards is a problem down the entire street. Would be nice to see this dealt with properly so we don’t waste everyone’s time and money.

Agreed! It's very dangerous trying to make left turns. Whoever thought putting trees and tall plants in the middle of a road should come down here and try make a few left turns... Terrible idea

I agree with this concern also as the planting of trees was not a very good idea. Just bedding plants would have been ok.. I don’t know how many times I have had a car turn left in front on me...

Any update on this? These turns are still unsafe.

There is still no resolve to this. It is very unsafe to turn left in some spots. Boyne and Wood Street left turns (for example) are extremely dangerous as you cannot see on coming traffic....Is it going to take an accident or God forbid, a death, to get this taken care of? This was reported almost a month ago.

This has been brought forward numerous times by many of us in the community, we no resolutions.

Thank you for your comments- the horticulture crew responsible for this area has responded to these inquiries with the following: "Perennials populating most of the Ewen Ave central diverters have now finished blooming and we plan to trim the spent stocks all the way to the ground in the near future. Shrub groupings interspersed among the perennials will be lowered to approximately 18” height as in previous seasons."

If you are just trimming back the stocks goes this mean they will be growing back again next year?

Ok, let me get this straight - the perennials blooming were more important than human lives? They weren't cut because they hadn't finished blooming? Have I got this right? Every person that has had to turn left into traffic risked their lives because the flowers weren't finished blooming?? I seriously cannot believe this. Un-freaking believable.

Please remove the trees as well. These trees and bushes aren't taken care of anyway and just dry up. Also, safer street is better than a beautiful street, IMO.

Most of Ewen St. could have central dividers/planters installed and then put roundabouts at key intersections. This would beautify the street by adding more trees and vegetation and increase safety for all users by eliminating the need for left hand turns altogether.

What key intersections? I live on Boyne but also turn left at Wood and in both instances, the vegetation was so overgrown and high that in both spots, you could not see the oncoming traffic, it was incredibly dangerous.. Here's what should have been done or should be done (but won't, sadly). They should be removing the tall growing flowers that block the view of on coming traffic as well as the view of people at crosswalks and replace with shorter shrubbery or plants that do not grow to 5+feet in height. These middle planters were very poorly thought out.

We've had roundabouts before. Let's just say they didn't work out. Why do we have to have the planters at all?

This issue is not just for left turners but pedestrians trying to cross at marked crosswalks that drivers cannot see around these bushes and trees. I've seen many drivers go right through without stopping for pedestrians half way through crosswalks because they simply cant see them. I really am scared that we will hear about this in the news one day because a child got hit by a car. Both not at fault because the city wouldn't deal with "Perennials finshed blooming."
