I was charged $140 for a COVID test at the Cornell Scott Hill Health Center. I found this provider on the New Haven COVID-19 portal, after reading multiple news articles about free testing in New Haven. I requested the test under the belief that it would be free, based on statements from the mayor and the layout of the COVID-19 portal. The costs were never mentioned during the visit. By charging exorbitant rates for testing that is actively encouraged by the city, the Cornell Scott Hill Health Center is profiting from a pandemic. This practice is at best misleading and at worst reckless profiteering. I've requested that the charge be revoked.

This was an automated computer system issue. The charge will populate on "My Chart" but patients will not receive a billing statement for anything related to a Covid-19 test. The Patient Accounts Dept will zero out the balance after the test visit has gone through the accounting cycle.

Thanks for addressing this! I was really concerned about being unknowingly charged for a COVID test. Glad to know it's just a systems issue.
