And that is A very crowded corner where the officer is exposed to urgent care cases.

Urgent Care Center does about 100 Covid-19 tests a day. There is a constant group of people waiting in line on Cambridge and Antrim Streets, 7 days a week starting at about 6:30am (for 8am testing).

I don’t see anyone even remotely close to six feet near the officer. The door and line forms to the right in that picture which is also more than six feet away. Maybe he needed a minute to get some fresh air.

@Old school The officer is standing adjacent to the crosswalk where literally hundreds of people are crossing definitely within 6 feet.

And that cross walk area is probably 6 feet wide or wider. Therefore the only way to come in close contact with him would be if they CHOSE to walk next to him instead of walking 6 feet away from him.

Getting through the line/gauntlet of Covid-19 test people is much more of an issue than one policeman or construction workers. It's like happy hour with masks, groups of people gathering and chatting hours, making new friends.

Would the Cambridge Police Dept please comment on this? There have been numerous news articles and complaints about police officers NOT FOLLOWING THE LAW and ENDANGERING PUBLIC HEALTH.

Thanks for the message. All CPD personnel are required to wear a face covering at all times when in public. This requirement is internally enforceable at all times except when Officers are actively engaged in eating or if the individual is experiencing a documented health matter. This requirement was implemented in order to best protect the community we serve, Officers, their colleagues, and their loved ones. Our Professional Standards Unit has been notified of this complaint.

@Police: How can citizens issue citations/tickets to police officers who fail to obey the law? Surely there must be a way to hold the officers accountable.

In the event that coverings are not worn or worn properly, personnel will be held accountable and discipline will be progressive.

How can citizens ticket the police? Or are they above the law?
