Thank you for reporting your concern to City of Cambridge via Commonwealth Connect. We have reviewed the information you provided our staff and will be investigating this issue further. This has been received as Service Request #3830.
It is good that the most dangerous branches have been cut off, but I am very disappointed that the tree was not removed and a new tree planted, as has been done in other places in the neighborhood where trees have died.I would like to know why this better alternative was not taken.
I’ve been told by our VM Mallon that this tree and the other much taller dead tree across Highland Ave and a little bit closer to Broadway will both be removed in 2-4 weeks. That detail might’ve been nice to add when DPW closed the issue “resolved”. Nothing about new trees. Guessing that spring is better than fall, but keep pressure up.
