Description
We experience frequent speeding on Woodland Rd. It happens several times a day. It occurs, primarily, during the morning and evening commute times but it does occur throughout the day.
It seems people use the street as a bypass to the Fellsway, to avoid waiting to enter the roadway, avoid the traffic controls. I've noticed an uptick in the amount of cars on Woodland Rd since the lights were installed at Fellsway and Highland Ave.
There are now more than a dozen children living on the street. There are sections that don't have sidewalk, forcing people to walk in the roadway. Given the hill midway up the road, there have been a number of near collisions as people come up the street too fast and encounter opposing traffic coming over the hill.
The neighborhood is concerned about the number of close calls. I'm afraid any instance would be fatal given the speed of the drivers through the area. What is the process for getting our street evaluated for additional speed controls?
Thank you

Good morning -- I've followed up directly with Lt. Tuxbury via email as well but thought I would post here, as well.
We had an officer on the street on Monday to address a neighbor's attempt to slow traffic by partially blocking the road with his vehicle. The neighbor has been directed not to do this in the future, has complied with the officer's directions.
When I asked the officer about the status of Woodland Rd being on an enforcement list he wasn't aware of any specific issues with Woodland, hadn't heard it mentioned during role call.
What is the status of the road in regards to enforcement?
Thank you for your time and attention in this matter. The families on our street greatly appreciate it.

We deployed officers shortly after the complaint was identified. They are not assigned to general patrol duties and have access to equipment required for speeding enforcement. There was minimal activity on the street during their deployment. We will continue to revisit the area as resources allow. What are the commute hours that this is most prevalent? 7am? 8am?
Thank you
