These two streets are very narrow, people park on both sides of the road. Generally, there's sufficient lane space for only one car to pass through.
These should be designated one-way.
With short, narrow streets such as this that don't carry a lot of traffic, it is usually preferable to keep the 2-way flow on the street, as long as there are sufficient spaces for traffic to pull over to let an oncoming car through. This helps to keep speeds slower and to allow for better traffic circulation in the neighborhood, especially with Fayette Street being one-way. If parked cars are taking up more than half the curb space along the street, then one-way flow could be preferable, as there is not as much opportunity to pull over to let another car through. I will take a look at the streets and determine the best course of action.
Chestnut St between High and Fayette does carry a lot of traffic. People come down to turn on to Fayette or to go to the Davidson St., parking lot.
Very busy during MCC school hours or before and after events at the MRT or the auditorium.
