Children Crossing Lights on Riesling are aout of order for several months. Even after school started these lights have not been fixed. It has a "out of order" bag on them. I was told there is little budget to fix them. Its a shame a child must get hurt before someone fixes it

Still Not fixed as of October 27th, 2009:
Got an update from the Petaluma city council in early October, see below. Does not look like they will be fixing it anytime soon.
We’ve been looking at ways to temporarily fix the lighting. Unfortunately, that doesn’t look feasible at this time because the street wiring is damaged beyond repair. The entire light wiring system needs to be fixed. That means that the project scope and cost has now greatly increased. We are looking into ways to fund replacement of the system.

How about dropping in some temporary concrete blocks/bollards, or speed bumps (rubber surfaces you can just drop in) until funding is available? They are very cheap and reduce traffic speeds, improving safety.
Safety should be the #1 priority here and I am sick of all the excuses.

Here is an update, not only are the lights still not working the out of order signes are are old they are faded and are hardly visible from far.
Not only that but right above the crosswalk the street light which would at least light up the crosswalk is broken as well. There are 10 lights on that street only the one above thayt is broken. At night it hardly possible to see someone at that crossing.
I think maybe they are waiting for someone to get hurt or die to fix it.
