We checked the signal timing. It is operating at the optimal timing. The problem is simply that this is near a major shopping mall and many other shopping destinations at the holiday season. This area is packed. Nothing we can do with the signal timing will eliminate congestion in this area at this time of the year.

Yesterday I got caught at the light at Crescent Blvd and Novi Rd, then at the I96 east bound off ramp, West Oaks drive and finally 12 mile. If the timing is optimal why are we getting stopped at 4 lights within a 1 mile distance? There are no cross streets that have lights that would interfere with the timing on Novi road so why can’t the freeway and mall exits be timed so Novi road traffic flows properly? I’ve seen traffic blocking Novi road trying to exit the freeway in the middle of the day. I don’t see how that is optimal.
I’ll assume the Road Commission still thinks light timing is optimal and is going to ignore all future comments. But, nothing has changed. We still get stopped at all the lights and traffic is backed up during midday and horrible during rush hour. I can’t wait to see what it looks like after Thanksgiving.
