I just went by there as well a few minutes ago. It is not a good scene. They are burning garbage and is definitely not safe and not safe for kids who may be walking by.

I'm not sure if such encampments are legal in Encinitas or not. If people are legally allowed to live wherever they wish in the open, I imagine that's something the residents of Encinitas might wish to discuss. If they are not and such encampments are not legal, why is the law not being enforced?

I also walked by and witnessed this. Was extremely unsafe. I see that this report was closed. Please advise what was done to eliminate this unsafe situation.

Each day after posting this, Saturday and Sunday the same individuals where in the exact same location early AM with trash and belongings scattered all over the place. I watch family and individuals avoid that section of the park out of fear and concern. This is un acceptable, even in the simplest form, camping is not allowed in our local parks. Why is this being allowed to happen.

I saw the man urinating in bushes. The whole scene is disgusting and they should be removed. They have taken over an entire area for over a week.

I took my granddaughters to the "climbing tree" along the rail trail across from Cardiff School yesterday. Now there is a new recent arrival (from Silver City, he says) smoking dope, peeing on the tree and talking complete gibberish incessantly. Needless to say, we were all very uncomfortable in our own neighborhood. So he is now a legal resident of that tree and can't be moved per City policy? This is a complete abdication of responsibility by the City, who is not serving its residents.

This is unacceptable!!! We don’t feel safe anymore in the city we live in, work, and pay taxes that is supposed to also provide safety to their own citizens. What’s happening? So, we can just grab a tent and camp anywhere we wish? Why pay the pass for public parks and camping grounds when visiting one?
