I agree. The last thing I read on SeeClickFix was 100 times more important, and people have been complaining to the City for over a year about it - 79 entries on this site - think about it.

The 7 Days article was absurd click-bait. The reality is that it is in a residential part of the city and the noise, fires (including burning a couch and used spray-paint cans) fireworks, trespassing on the neighboring properties etc. is a degradation to the neighborhoods quality of life. It is not a sweet skateboard themed park for kids like is almost implied in the manipulative article. There is one of those nearby at Talent and another skatepark at the waterfront. The discarded needles, empty liquor bottles in the woods and toxic fire pits suggest a very different narrative on the Road to Nowhere.

Why not host outdoor High School there? Or better yet, turn BHS into an autonomous zone/safe injection site/Homeless camp/car-free skatepark. That should take care of 70% of the city councils agenda.

The skateboard park on the waterfront is also in a residential area.. I dont think we would have all the problems you say if the burlington police did their job like they are supposed to but instead they dont pay attention to what is going on!!

It’s idiocy to build out the Champlain Pky as per the current antiquated plan circa 1970s. Let’s build a sensible and safe roadway, and keep the skate park until construction for the new plan begins.

Typical Pine Street Coalition misinformation. The current design is nothing like the 70’s version and there is nowhere near enough land for the roundabout. Go protest something in your own neighborhood.

I guarantee it is not skaters leaving liquor bottles, needles and trash at this spot. Skaters respect their spots, and wouldn't jeopardize them by leaving them trashed. This location is not used exclusively by skaters, and removing the ramps will not stop the other folks from doing sketchy things there. Likely it will increase that activity.

You guarantee that groups of skaters haven't been down there partying, setting things on fire and shooting off fireworks. Really? Of course not all people who have used the space have done that, but to imply that what the neighbors have documented here on SeeClick Fix and other places for months is a lie is a slap in the face to the people who live near this location. Are you calling them liars? Of course they don't care if some kids skate down there during the day and clean up the place. But to suggest that is the sole subculture of people skating the place is either naive or dishonest. The issue isn't even so much what is happening now but what was allowed to happen over the summer.

jkc if you have a problem with the noise , partying and fireworks why dont you call bpd and see if they will go check it out? Guaranteed they wont go down and check things out! They are to busy doing other things.. What i dont know.. Probably sleeping on the job...
