This is the main artery of our neighborhood. Please take care of it as soon as possible. Don't let a tragedy occur before it is fixed.

I work on the community garden at Park and Cleveland. Park Blvd scares the crap out of me sometimes. Would anyone like to work on a spring outreach campaign to slow traffic in the area? parkcommunitygarden@gmail.com

While it may be a thoroughfare, it is still a residential neighborhood and should be treated as such. We need more speed enforcement here!

What happened to the traffic cop who gave me a ticket couple years back for doing 40 along here?

They disbanded the traffic units so they have more resources for higher crime areas. They still have a single traffic motorcycle unit that is dedicated to east oakland. So basically, they are shifting attention to east oakland so they can get their homicide numbers down so the politicians can declare victory. Now obviously homicides are bad, but I don't think our neighborhood's quality of life issues should be ignored.

It is just as tragic if a 7 year old is killed by a speeding car down Park as it is for a 7 year to be hit by a stray bullet. But from a media perspective one of these is more important than the other.

We pay taxes, in most cases way more taxes, and expecting the speed sign to work is a modest expectation.

I'm sure you have gone through all this already, but has it been discussed at the monthly NCPC meetings and with your Neighborhood Srevices Coordinator Hoang Bahn, with the City Councilmember's office and OPD Problem Solving Officer Joseph Turner

FYI,,, the Solar Speed Sign on Park Blvd has not been fixed yet. OPD deployed the Speed Alert Trailer to remind us the 25 MPH speed limit. That's the first step we are working toward to slow down the speeders.Other steps are in work now to address this speeding problem ... please stay tuned in.

Thank you to OPD for this action. I have seen more patrol cars lately and that is encouraging. Also, thank you to everyone who has contributed to get this issue noticed.

Well, looks like the speed trailer has been removed; it wasn't there when I drove by earlier. Hopefully they're using information from this for some type of plan. Fingers crossed!

Yes, the Speed Trailer has been removed sometime this morning because it has not been working since Monday. The unit is solar powered, so OPD thought it just needed to recharge itself, but it didn't work.
I thought it was ironic because we addressed the 25 MPH solar speed sign that went out first, so the Speed Trailer was deployed to address the 25 MPH issue, now we have to address the Speed Trailer.

TWO MEETINGS ON PARK THIS WEEK, WED & THURSDAY. SAME CONTENT AT BOTH MEETINGS.
