Go to the Caltrans website and file a service report. This works faster than hoping the City of Oakland will contacts them. They were very responsive the times I have used them for homeless (campers) garbage and damaged signs. P.S. Allied Metals needs to go away. Good Luck

The last time we put reports into caltrans, being the great neighbors they are, caltrans simply pushed all the tents out of their gated property into the street.
Totally ineffective and more dangerous for these people and the traffic.

Further, the amount of times I've seen people using the outside areas as bathrooms (not just #1, pleasant, I know), is a public health hazard.

There has to be a healthy solution for this.

the healthy solution is more complex than anyone wants to admit, so i say just leave them be. there is no one that lives back there and these people are out of the way and not bothering anyone. quit being such anti-homeless gentrifying busybodies.

One solution would to be to open your residence up to house these people, you obviously have strong feelings about it.

KHW, Your comment is not really helpful and calling people who live in this community with children, pay taxes, and genuinely care about the health of the neighborhood busybodies is needlessly offensive. It is true that people camping need a place to live, but the site under the freeway is not healthy or safe for anyone. It has horrible exposure to major hazards like noxious odors from the sewage plant, deplorable air quality exposure due to the busy roadway above as well as direct unfenced access to a busy railroad. People who camp out here are often taken advantage of by other residents in unmentionable ways. To say "leave them be" is heartless and irresponsible. These people need access to real housing, food, healthcare and nutrition services provided by the city. Camping under a freeway in a MadMax-like environment is barbarian and authorities should be aware of this major issue.

since you brought up the albany bulb in your original statement, i assume you think the bulb settlement was problematic and that the "solution" that albany came up with was satisfactory and you wish the same to happen here. your sudden concern for the lives of these people seems disingenuous at best, and definitely more offensive than my use of the term busybody.
