If eli road was two way as it use to be the problem would be solved. Open the road to two way traffic as it used to be! Also open Lake road as it used to be to two way traffic. It would also fix the same problem.

Would a roundabout solve this problem? Lights increase driver frustration. Roundabouts slow and smooth traffic.

So what you are really after is to "SLOW TRAFFIC" on Whitney, not to stop left lane turning people onto Davis St. ONCE AGAIN I hope I am able to shine the light of truth onto the do-gooders that wants to ruin our happy community with changes that do not help us. No Melissa, the Hamden Police have more to do than traffic detail all day all the time. Thank goodness the Hamden Police are their for us when we need them!

Let's just say roundabouts make traffic flow more efficiently and effectively and delay drivers at intersections for only very brief periods. In comparison, traffic lights slow things to a complete halt and increase accidents and bad driving. Therefore traffic circles also reduce the amount of work the local police have to deal with.

P.S. If I'm a do-gooder, what does that make you?

How about we put things back the way they were before this mess started. When Eli road was two ways and lake road was two ways this problem did not exist. It would cost almost "NOTHING" to open both of these roads again to two way traffic. And could be done in less that a week. Now, how much money and time will it take to redesign and rebuild this intersection? Again we have the do-gooders trying to change a wonderful neighborhood in ways the public does not want and will not support.

Does anyone know how many crashes have occurred here?

I've seen a bunch on Whitney, within a mile or so of here, but can't remember one happening right at this corner. Having the stats from the Town would be helpful.

Mark you are a New Haven activist. You have a very long history that is easy to read if any one wants to do the home work. So the simple question is why are you getting involved in Hamden politics? What is in it for YOU? You do not live here, so what is your spin?

Life Guard, you are fast becoming my favorite member of this forum. Let me put it this way, whatever benefits one area of a region also tends to benefit and influence another area. Making Whitney Avenue safer in Whitneyville influences policies toward Whitney Avenue in New Haven. It also affects all those folks who travel on Whitney Avenue between Hamden and New Haven, of which there are a great deal.

how: wear red. flood the intersection crossing all directions when the pedestrian walk signal is lit. (please use caution and obey all traffic laws)
