The light is not intended to stop cars in the middle of the bridge... people stop in the middle of the bridge at the wrong light and then block all the other lanes.

Specifically the stream of traffic coming across the overpass (of Soldiers Field - east bound- Rd) from Cambridge, toward Brighton tend to stop in the middle of the overpass intersection when the light is red. There is no stop line anywhere ON the overpass and when cars do stop, the space can only hold up to 2 cars. So when other lights turn green and people need to drive through the intersection those cars are oddly placed in the middle in the way of everyone. I believe they are supposed to stop before the intersection - but because the light is placed on the opposite far corner (on the corner of N Harvard St and the On-Ramp for Soldiers Field Rd East bound) it gives the illusion that traffic can stop further up closer to the light.

This traffic error occurs probably once every 3 light cycles (especially during rush hour times).

I commute this way to work everyday and I am constantly worried that I'll get into a horrible accident because the intersection is so confusing. Cars are constantly stopping in the middle of the bridge at a light that is not intended for that, causing confusion and havoc. I would like to see this changed for the safety of the public!

Also needs a bigger collection area for cyclists and pedestrians. Rush hour commuting gets very congested here. We really need enforcement of driver blocking the box as the original poster indicated as well. The walk signals on the west side of the intersection have the buttons placed in a very unintuitive manner. Many folks are convinced they simply do not work so cross unsafely without a walk signal. An indication of which button crosses what street is needed.

Please note the image of this exact situation. Cars stopped in the middle of the intersection, my lane had a green light, and the car infront of me chose to drive on the wrong side of the road to get around the misplaced/stopped cars.
