So I guess your reply is that you are clearing a lot of streets, just not ours on Route 6. I sure am glad i pay my taxes and always clear my drive and sidewalks. I have seem 1 plow truck since December ice storm.

And they wonder why people can't wait to move out of this city.

Trav you are correct, we started in the 12 routes I listed above. As our crews complete them they will move into other areas including route 6.

I live in East Lansing and the sidewalks are not better here. For 140 Land Bank sales over the last 3 years we have over 40% of the buyers moving into the City of Lansing from outside. Sidewalks are a challenge everywhere. If you live in an urbanized area you can actually walk and bike to many places. This is why Lansing and East Lansing are attractive.

Sorry Eric it seems you missed the piont of these mgs with your wierd reply . We are talking about streets. Most people have thier walks done long befir the streets are cleared. We are even threatened with fines if they are not done 24 hrs after snow or ice finishes. But it seems we are theonly ones with concequences

Due to the rising temperatures and increased "fluff up" of snow packed streets the City will be plowing all residential streets and alleys again.
We apologize in advance for the snow and slush that will be deposited on driveways and sidewalks. Please use caution around plow equipment.

Trav, Eric is the county treasurer, he is always missing the point. on top of that, comparing apples to oranges, ...I've dealt with Eric and he uses your issue to compare to something irrelevant and chooses to ignore the real problems with Ingham county. Next if you report a pot hole, he'll say he went swimming last summer and now 40% of new home buyers build swimming pools

Please read the tread and this sorts itself out. I was responding to the discussion that included sidewalks and someone responding that was another reason folks were moving out of Lansing. [I stand by my remarks on folks moving into Lansing. A fact we at the Land Bank can be proud of.] Street snowplowing seems to vary between communities, but I think sidewalks are a regional problem. They certainly remain an issue in East Lansing. Maybe the disability rights community has helped Lansing enforce what should be a good neighbor policy to clear sidewalks. I'm not seeing how to connect the comment "the real problems with Ingham County". Streets and sidewalks in Lansing have nothing to do with County Government.

Our street was mostly cleared by saturday evening. So thanks to the city for that. They did not salt though likely afraid the pot holes that have beem there all summer and fall might fill in. And as for Eric you have little to no credibility prompting lansing when you work here but choose to live elsewhere.

Eric, by the way i have read the whole thread, ot started with me and yoi are the ome that mentioned sidewalks in a bad light. That was very condesending the way you expressed to me.

Eric , I would like to hear more of your ideas, ..."what should be a good neighbor policy to clear sidewalks", as you wrote concerning the above discussion. Are you speaking of people helping each other out in a neighborly fashion? If so, I'd love to hear more and be part of promoting this "old-school" (my quotes) notion. Thank you!

Trav - I see your point that the leaving comment was tied to street plowing. The streets in Lansing, to me, are no better or worse than the sidewalks. Sidewalks mean a lot to me as I walk whenever possible and hate to see folks walking in streets because of sidewalk condition.

Over the years I have lived in Bunker Hill (growing up) and Wheatfield Townships. Lived in Lansing in college and East Lansing since kids came along. East Lansing is an urban core city similar to Lansing. As your elected Treasurer and Land Bank Chair I spend the vast majority of my time helping Lansing residents and working to improve the City of Lansing. Tax foreclosure work is certainly not popular, but we are very innovative in foreclosure prevention work. The Land Bank is a major County investment in improving our community. While not perfect, folks greatly appreciate our efforts.
