The Grand Avenue bridge was supposed to be complete in August of 2009 and it is still not finished. Olive Street is overloaded with cars at rush hour and the fire department, ambulances and public bus continue to re-route their normal paths because of this prolonged bridge construction. This has gone on too long, fix it so we can again use it.

It should reopen next week before Christmas according to the Fire Department.
They are almost done. I *might* have taken a little jog across it the other day, and it's a really pretty bridge.
My big concern is again our old pal lighting. Taking a look at the bridge while i was being built, I saw many sections with wiring and plugs sticking out of them that appeared to be wiring for lights. Those now appear to be freshly closed up with concrete, so they may not actually be lights (or the design changed)
I'll withhold judgment until the bridge is complete, but if there is no pedestrian-scale lighting on this bridge and it's as dark as the previous one, we may need to think about forming a "Light Our Bridges" group or something...

Hey Guys,
This from Dick Miller, "I've got good news. There is a ribbon cutting event tomorrow at 12 noon. So the bridge will finally be opened. As you know, this was a DOT managed project."
I have followed up w a question about the pedestrian lighting. I also asked about lighting on the State Street bridge as well as bike lanes there.
