  The amount of commuter and tractor-trailer traffic on Home Ave is extremely dangerous and negatively impacts the neighborhood's quality of life in an inequitable way.

  The following comment was sent to the DPW in good faith and they posted it to SeeClickFix and then it was archived and blocked by DPW Planning NL. What are they hiding?

  I would like to know what is being done to address the dangerous levels of traffic on Home Ave. I just watched a woman in a wheelchair come inches from being run over by two speeding cars down this neighborhood road that is used as the main artery off of I-189 Into Burlington. My 14 year old son was hit. by a car at the Home-Shelburne Rd. intersection last week. Why are you ignoring this glaring public safety issue? Why does the Burlington DPW pretend that commuter and truck traffic on Home and Pine Ave. are somehow acceptable when every study proves the exact opposite?

  The federal funds for the Champlain Parkway were earmarked to reduce commuter and truck traffic on these roads and now DPW has announced that they are using them for completely different purposes while punting any discussion for addressing these impacted neighborhood roads until 2027. This is a lawsuit begging to happen.

  Call dpw and talk to Peterson and ask him what is going on and find out when the Champlain parkway is going to be built.. this is getting pretty rediculous!

  Thank you for inquiring about traffic calming on Home Avenue. We have requested traffic and crash data to help us determine the best options moving forward. For an overview of the process, please visit https://www.burlingtonvt.gov/dpw/TrafficCalming

  We'll follow up with more information once we've completed our review of traffic and crash data, which will occur during this coming winter. The traffic calming program is very popular and there is a queue of streets ahead of this request, but we will use the winter months to develop any improvement plans for the coming year.

We're excited to let you know that we are now implementing a comprehensive asset management program which is a mostly "behind the scenes" effort. This will enable more efficient, more effective and more fiscally sound infrastructure management. There may be the occasional bug to work out, but rest assured that your issue is still in queue and assigned to the right City staffer.   Just read the numerous studies already conducted. You know that the Champlain Parkway/Southern Connector project was conceived and continues to be needed to address this issue that gets worse every year. Everyone knows Home Ave. is used as the de facto Highway extension into the city. Numerous studies prove this. However, DPW is planning to use the federal funds allocated to build the connection from 189 to the Champlain Parkway to build other elements of the project with absolutely no intention of ever connecting the project to 189. Chapin Spencer stated as much. Yet, the reason the funds were given and the project exists is to take traffic from 189 to downtown without it being routed through neighborhood streets. The lack of transparency and honesty is alarming.

  DPW planning, this question was posted almost a year ago and you NEVER answered the post! Why is it taking so long to do something to get the Champlain parkway built? You obviously need to have new management working there that will know more about what they are doing!!
