Thank you for the report. These trees are Ulmus parvifolia or Lacebark elms. These are non-native elms trees that attract elm bark beetles. The damage reported was most likely created by woodpeckers eating the beetles. Woodpeckers strip away the outer layers bark for ease of access as seen in photos. To treat the trees and remove the beetle infestation would require insecticide application. We will look into our options and decide a appropriate course of action.
