Description
Highland Drive at this location is labeled as "2000 East." This is the grid position of the road, but the primary designation of this road is Highland Drive. (Check signals at Newcastle and Highland, Alta Canyon and Highland, and Creek and Highland).
I would suggest that displaying the grid position of a named road is still useful, but the name should be in large type and the grid position in small type (unless it's an honorary designation like MLK Jr Blvd, in which case the grid position should be in large type and the honorary designation in small type).
I've attached a photo of roughly how that could look. There have been some UDOT installations where the grid position uses large text but the name of the street (the primary designation of the street) uses really small letters. The sign for Jordan Gateway at 106th South is a prime example of this. Please reconsider this approach.
