This was due to the predictions for the storm. DCR announced that Riverbend Park would not open on either Saturday or Sunday this past weekend.

So if there's a storm predicted we should check the DCR website? It's unfortunate because there were lots of people out along the river (on the bikepath and on the sidewalk on the other side of Memorial Drive)--no snow or ice whatsoever. It wouldn't have even occured to me and apparently all those other people to check with anyone.
