Are you referring to the in-road pedestrian sign? If so, they have been removed to accomodate plow trucks during the winter.

Thanks to Traffic and Parking for the update. Just so that everyone is aware of what is happening here: as soon as the pedestrian signs are removed for the winter, we are at risk again. I cannot get a single car to stop for me at this intersection, despite my making eye contact with drivers, stepping out toward the crosswalk, and gesturing to the crosswalk. Could we get some law enforcement, both for speeding violations and crosswalk violations, for times when the signs must be removed? As it is now, the risk of crossing here is very high and will remain so until something changes.

They should be kept year-round. Other cities manage to find ways to do this, e.g., using bolts and/or sand barrels, despite the need for plows to pay attention.

This has been brought up before and is something the department is looking into in terms of using a bolting system. Sand barrels are a potential obstruction if left out year round. While some cities still use them, others have stopped due to their obstruction hazard.
