Description
Ticket #9072705 explained that residents shoveled their walks as expected but the plow comes by and pushes the snow back onto the sidewalk. This snow was deep and hard to move. When residents put the effort in to move the snow, it is disheartening when the plow is moving fast enough to throw it back onto the sidewalk. This is back breaking work. I shoveled 3 hours to move the snow at my house only to have it thrown back on the sidewalk and pushed into the driveway. The "new " snow left by the plows is significantly heavier and harder to move. I saw this happening all around our neighborhood. Is the responder to this request saying "that is our problem...you shouldn't shovel until after the plows have completed their work?" where the snow will be solid ice? You have to love it when you shovel as expected, it takes hours of work, you stand back and are satisfied with your accomplishment....only to fret when the plow then comes down the street and throws it back on the sidewalk and pushes it back into the driveway. If residents can't thrown snow into the street, why are plow drivers allowed to throw it onto the sidewalk? Plow it onto a corner so pedestrians can't cross intersections? We know the routes these drivers plow....have them come by and correct their shenanigans or fine them for each offense.

With the rate of snowfall in a duration event, plows continue to plow until the snow has stopped and streets have been cleared for the final time and then they are salted. I know the snow piles up and gets heavy but it is impossible to plow the snow anywhere but the sides of the roads. If you still see snow on the street please try and wait before shoveling. Residents have 24 hours after the DPW finishes their plowing operations. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this issue you can call me anytime. Thank you and have a great holiday.
