Mansgrove and 206 crosswalk

I would like to echo this request to have something done to make this crosswalk safer. It is hard to get to the waiting area on 206 from Mansgrove, and hard for cars to see pedestrians waiting. Even some kind of street light that would illuminate the crosswalk and/or any pedestrians/bikers waiting to cross would be a huge improvement. This is the only way for individuals and families that live on Woodland Drive to access other streets and neighborhoods.

Drivers are not paying any attention to the current signage. Having a signal that pedestrians could active would not impede traffic except when someone is trying to cross the highway. Since the vehicles are supposed to obey the current signage and stop now, such a signal would only enforce what is supposed to be happening anyway, so traffic flow would not be unduly affected.

As a resident of the neighborhood, I also experience this challenge. It is wonderful to be able to walk to town, but this crossing is the biggest impediment. Due to limited visibility and speeding traffic, one has to approach not only with normal caution but with extra worry.

As a resident whose property fronts both State Road and Mansgrove, I concur with the earlier posts and encourage the township to fully research and address the safety hazard identified in this service request. While the posted speed limit is 35 mph, drivers routinely exceed the maximum, leaving pedestrians cyclists at this juncture unable to visually gauge whether and when to attempt a crossing. An illuminated crossing would provide a dual benefit in slowing slowing traffic and allowing pedestrians to safely cross 206.

Hello, It has been close to two months since we reported the issue. Please help us understand the status of the review and if there is anything else we should do to fix the problem and prevent an accident or a fatality.

Hello, please advise on progress, this has become a pressing matter and fixing the crosswalk will prevent a fatal accident.

At its August 9 meeting, Princeton Council will be approving a consultant contract to collect data, prepare a report with recommendations, and submit it to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for consideration. As 206 is a state highway, NJDOT must approve any increased signage and / or a rapid flashing beacon. Princeton has submitted a request to PSE&G to increase the street lighting at the Mansgrove intersection to provide additional illumination in the dark.
