Stormwater runoff for half of High Court street in berkeley does not flow to the storm drain, but instead flows into the driveways for 1107 and 1109 High Court, causing flooding, property damage, and a hazard for residents. The street needs to be repaired so that the water flows into the storm drain
This issue -- which effects many of us (i.e., not just the one neighbor -- because we all spend time together outside in this area -- has been so long-standing, I think many of us have given up hope that the City will ever respond. I now I speak for many neighbors when I urge you to finally, finally do what is necessary to fix this issue. With renewed hope and appreciation, in advance, for your work in our precious neighborhood.
The details are important here... The slope of the gutter has changed markedly over the last several years as the court has lots of movement / is part of a slide zone. This movement has meant that the flow of storm water, and the sump-pump output from neighbors' basements that flow into the gutter no longer make it to the storm run-off drain in the street. Rather, much of this water runs into the driveway of 1107 High Ct. This has caused flooding in the homes at 1107 and the neighbor immediately to the sw (1105?). In order to solve this, the flow will have to be directed into a new storm drain "up stream", or drainage will have to be added to the existing storm drain so that gravity can once again force water into the storm drain, rather than into the yard.
I see that this is closed, but nothing has been done to solve the root cause - the gutter still pours any water in it into the driveway referenced in the first posting above.
As soon as there is rain again, this problem be back. I'd say that the issue should be re-opened and resolved, before it is closed. No?

This is causing a serious safety hazard to all the little kids on this street. There have been many incidents of tripping.
There is property damage, car damage, flooding and mold.
