This ConcernedCitizen1050, yes, I spoke to 2 BSO Tamarac deputies, my neighbors, and spoke to the victims relatives yesterday. If you go to the intersection of NW 108 Terrace and Periwinkle Lane, you will see the car crash scene and the traffic accident investigation markings.

Wow, that is crazy. That is close to the entrance of McNab Rd. There's absolutely no reason to speeding through there when there is a stop sign coming up in 500ft anyway.

Yes, I have seen the drag racing take place, not just on 108th Terrace but also on Hiatus road.

I don't know how many times I have brought that up to the city, but they refuse to do anything. Maybe starting a petition would help?

From our back porch we saw them pulling a young woman's body out of the tangled wreckage. We heard the vehicle as it hit one tree and than came to rest after hitting the second tree. Something needs to be done. Maybe a few speed bumps. The police can't be here every second. I wish they could maybe then the speeding would stop.

Linda that is crazy! I haven't heard anything at all about it. So it was a young female pedestrian walking when she got hit by an out of control car speeding down 108? There was a cop in the median yesterday morning but they're only there one or two days every few months. I think speed bumps would help greatly because the 35MPH sign does nothing to deter people from going 60MPH.

No she was a passenger in the car that hit the tree. Very very sad. It was 2 am in the morning, not a pleasant way to wake up. I hear some of these cars and motorcycles flying down this street. I keep waiting for more sounds of crashing. I stand in my back yard and see all all the traffic investigation marks on the street and trees.

I contacted the city about placing speed humps and told them about the accident and the drag racing. They said there is nothing they can do, which I think is a lie.

When they say "There's nothing we can do" what they really mean is "We don't care and don't have the money for it."

They dont. But they sure will waste the money on stupid little things that dont need to be done. There has to be something we, as residents, can do.

We can put out cones to slow people down. Get a little toy dog and put it on the edge of the road. If they won't do something, we will.

Sounds good! Maybe if we do a petition, showing the city how many people agree that there is a problem and something needs to be done about it. And take it to the media. In the mean time, where would we get the cones from?

Well if the town can't do anything who can? A few speed bumps are not going to put the town into debt. Disgusting, will put sod down and water it all the time, but they don't have money to maybe keep someone alive.

The speeding on this street is really ridiculous. I drive down here to get my boyfriend and all I see is people speeding on this road. Also I know how you feel about this issue, where I live is nothing but speeding. I live on Southgate Blvd between Rock Island and 441 and its to the point where I lost not 1, but 2 of my dogs to speeding. Margate is not doing anything to stop it here eihter

I look outside and I see all the investigative markings on the trees and road, I could just break down and sob. How many 20 year old sons and daughters, grandchildren, and best friends have to be lost before something is done? Sometimes the media can help if they choose to. If the city has decided to hide behind a brick wall, maybe what's needed is to find someone with a powerful hammer with a lot of clout.

I think we all need to come together and do a petition, so that way the city can see it is not just 1 or 2 people complaining, its a majority of the residents who live along NW 108 Terrace saying "There is a speeding problem on this street and we want something done about it." And then, if they still refuse to listen to us and do nothing, then take it to the media. I think that is the only way we can get something done. Who agrees with me?

I had a plan to start the petition next Saturday, December 6, 2014. I think we should do it sometime during the day. I will be working on the campaign website and other stuff to help get the word out. I was thinking of naming the campaign "Make Tamarac Streets Safer". Who likes it?
