No. This is not completed. Do I need to turn in another new report? The stone that was installed is not buried 12-18 inches below the surface of the street, as is required and as the rest of the stone curbing has been. In fact, the piece of stone is not even square, and the north end rests on the bricks with a diagonal slant to the south. This piece of stone was not even installed so that it is level with adjoining stone pieces. The diagonally broken stone to the south of the smash one was set in place with latex caulking, totally unacceptable. It must be totally replaced. Lastly, none of the work was tamped down into place with soil. The stones are separated by a gap of 2-3 inches from the soil. I have more pictures. This is not a repair in the slightest. It is totally inadequate.

Our goal was to keep the curbing functional, not make it perfect. We have a new work order issued to re-do the curbing. The projected completion date has been updated.

It can't be functional when the complete pieces are not fully set underground 12 inches, instead of one side on top of the road surface. It can't be function when broken pieces are caulked together. It can't be functional when earth was not tamped against the stone pieces instead of an empty space which would result in the stones moving. This is in a historic district and the work needs to be done correctly.

This is a national historic district. Maintaining the historical accuracy and look at the curbs is extremely important to the entire neighborhood, as well as to the city of Topeka itself. The work is currently done is totally unacceptable and quite honestly is shabby and shows poor workmanship, as well as a lack of concern for the aesthetics of the neighborhood and for the residences and inhabitants of the area.
