It also helps others to be aware that this happens in our neighborhood. This issue was also reported to the NHPD and our alderman among others, so it a "fix" could be to increase city awareness of the problem.
I did not know of this forum actually until I was talking to a neighbor and she mentioned she saw this post!
So, I believe this is my car. I don't have access to change the details of this report. But if it is my vehicle (unless another civic also got its wheels stolen on Foster the night of 3/27/11), it is actually in front of 140/142 Foster St. It is a 2003 Honda Civic EX.
And, no, I did not spend thousands on the rims. I got the car second hand a few years ago and it's probably because the EX stock rims are relatively more valuable than regular steel ones. This is a community bulletin and you may live in this same neighborhood as well, so, hey, there is no need to be snarky and assume I dumped cash on some fancy rims that attracted unwanted attention.
If you live around, you might have seen the condition of the car. I'm posting a picture to show you what it looks like. Thank you all for all your concerns.
Yep, that's the car. Sorry to hear about this. In the course of one short month 2 blocks away from you, I had my 1993 Civic stolen and when I got my brand new car, two of its wheels were stolen. These also were not fancy rims, but rather what comes on a new Honda. I also got snarky comments that I should have wheel locks or I shouldn't have a Honda. We now have wheel locks and they cost about $48. Good luck in your wheel replacement.
The truth is that this area of East Rock needs more regular police patrols for theft, graffiti, speeding and running red lights.
If the cops didn't "know" about it then either nobody saw it or nobody cared.
As far as the wheels go, they'll never be found. As far as stopping crime by posting such mandane occurrences here, you won't accoplish anything. If the neighborhood was blind to a jacked Honda, I feel sorry for the neighbors.

Biggest issue as to "how they did it", or .How they got away with it" , is the shock/quickness/preparedness/audacity of it..Like someone probably saw a guy standing there but had absolutely no idea as to what he/she was doing... A loud alarm installed on the vehicle would have helped
