Description

The fork in the roads (Summit Ave/Baldwin Ave at Clifton Place) is a serious hazard. Cars traveling south on Summit Ave barely stop at the stop sign, cars traveling south on Baldwin Ave race down the street paying no heed to the traffic light that's yellow almost red have caused so many accidents and near accidents they are too many to count. Add to that mayhem of moving vehicles, heading north on Baldwin at the fork from Baldwin to Summit adds yet another vehicle into the mix. In the past few months there have been multiple collisions that the police have had to respond to as well as near misses and collisions with minor damage that it was not necessary for the police to respond.
And, just this past week there are been near misses with vehicle occupants exhibiting serious road rage. One instance this week, I called 911 because it was escalating quickly and causing a traffic jam.
Between not stopping at the stop sign, not heeding a yellow light and speeding cars from three directions, this intersection is very very dangerous for vehicles and pedestrians.
