Work is not allowed by this department on Sundays because an ordinance exists which does not allow work on Sundays, and we are bound to enforce that ordinance. Questions regarding the origin or intent of that ordinance would be better answered by legislative branch of our city government. To the best of my knowledge, the City of Malden has never been formally organized as a theocracy.
