The sale is never over. It is a fake. They sighns stay up until someone gets mad and runs them over or picks them all up. I picked up 115 of them one friday evening.

And tonights score is 40 signs collected from the ramps and destroyed. There are still 40 or so still out there.

charge them for it $$$$ find a fine or a fee. if it were a billboard they'd be paying money and those have time frames. this small stuff, random and repeatative really just adds up to littering.

I ran two of these over this morning that were in the middle of the onramp. What a bunch of idiots putting so many signs on the side of the road. Do they even have a permit to put them there?

Ohio Title 55, 5589.33 says the signs must be 600 foot away from the highway right of way or it's ramps.

uh, isn't taking them down/burning them sort of a crime in itself? Two wrongs don't make it right... I'd hate for you to be charged with misdemeanor theft, etc.

Good point M . . . the Mayor's office is looking into this and will get me a recommendation soon. The only thing we are trying to figure out is whether the city even has any jurisdiction here; I believe that on-ramps and off-ramps are controlled by the State of Ohio, not municipalities (Steve R., thanks so much for researching that!)

I'm going to call the Mayor's Office again this morning and find out if they have reached a conclusion yet. If it falls under the State's control, I will still contact them and find out how to remedy the problem.

Hey, while I'm thinking of it, can one of you make a note of what the business on the signs the next time you drive by and let me know? I don't mind calling the business personally as a representative of Amherst and let them know that Ohio law requires that the signs must be 600 feet away from the ramps. Thanks!

If I am not mistaken, I think it is Halstead's Furniture. I know the address on the signs says North Ridge Rd.

Thanks, Peevedresident. The Mayor's office just followed up with me about this . . . it is, indeed, the jurisdiction of the State of Ohio, so the City of Amherst can't remove the signs. However, the Mayor is having the Building Department call this furniture store to try and put a stop to the signs being posted. I hope this leads to a solution.

The word "mattress" is in the title of the business. Maybe "Mattress Warehouse." It is on the North side of N. Ridge Rd. (or 254 or cooper-foster) just east of Elyria Ave. I got roped in by the 70% off incentive. Although I didn't buy anything. I asked the owner why the signs say 70% and mattresses are only 50%. he said "other furniture is 70% off." I didn't even want to check. He must've been talking about the HIDEOUS, low quality artwork in the back of the store. We left just after i asked how long the "going out of business sale" is going on, and he said "At least 4 weeks..."

Sir, I happened to drive from Middle Ridge Rd onto Rt2(W) today, and there are about 6 signs present on the (Rt2) onramp by the Shell station and on the way back 6 more on the offramp by the Marathon (I'm new to the area so not sure if the original poster had included those) Seems to be two different advertisers, but one is a "N. Ridge Rd" address... but I hadn't seen this posting yet.

Councilman, I wanted to save thank you for letting us know someone is watching, reading and taking action (so posting is not a waste of time).

I personally try to point out potholes that are narrow in width and long enough to catch a motorcycle's front tire. I called them "grabber" potholes as they can grab the front tire and throw the rider(s) from the motorcycle, possibly into oncoming traffic or traffic following them. My wife, son, dau and I ride and I'd hate to see such a simple hole cause them injury (and of course the bike damage) let alone possibly take a life.
