To verify which poles I am speaking of the old telephone pole has the markings "NM 2" on it with a white X painted on it to indicate it is the one to be removed. The new pole has the marking of "VZ 111-5". I spoke with a National Grid worker who checking on the transformers on the adjacent pole recently and asked him if I should I contact National Grid to get the light repaced as I had already called the issue into the town clerk and nothing happened. He told me that he worked on the pole replacement project. He stated that the rail-road police told them, the National Grid workers, that they and the trucks were too close to the tracks and they couldn't work there. The workers mentioned to the rail police that the residents park their personal vehicle in the same spot were the National Grid truck was. I do not no if it is a matter of getting a permit to work that close to the rails. My belief is that it is a case of over use of powe or the lack of following through on projects to make sure they are completed properly . This issue NEEDS to get fixed when clearly replacing that light would benefit the residents and the rail engineers who drive through that intersection.
