Dear City of Newnan - you should be ashamed. If this storm drain problem was happening to one homeowner, it would be horrible, but this is happening to an entire neighborhood and multiple homeowners...all due to a dilapidated storm drain that you refuse to properly investigate. Pictures are worth 1000 words, people. Get Newnan Utilities to show you the simple proof. Fight On, Mr. Howard. What is Newnan waiting for...a house to collapse before they take notice of the obvious?? Does someone have to die?? You are stuck! You can't sell property with this land mind beneath it! All you can do is pray every time it rains. Newnan- this is not a case of "Buyer Beware" --- this is a case of GROSS NEGLIGENCE on the part of the city. Well NOT TODAY, City of Newnan, and NOT WITHOUT A FIGHT! From what I understand, Mr. Howard is not wanting to sue the city. He wants the problem fixed. Isn't that what you do? If not, why are you collecting a salary?? As much money as Newnan has spent to expand, it would be ashamed for the downtown area to collapse into the ground over a problem that is fixable. And if it's not, then condemn the whole area, give these people FMV for their homes and let the whole town get swallowed up. It's not that far from the Courthouse. Where is YOUR office??

We visited the location this date. Met with property owner and Newnan Utilities and have tentatively set a schedule for running a camera in the pipes, for next week.

Kudos to you, City of Newnan, for finally taking notice of this problem. It has been going on now for months with no action on your part. Since this is The City of Homes, and the homes in this area go way back, I'm glad to see you are willing to help these home owners with this problem. It is tough enough to refurbish these stately old houses without having to fight City Hall about infrastructure problems. Hope you and the homeowners can get this resolved quickly. Spring will bring lots more rain.

I wonder if this is what causes a pool of water in my backyard every time it rains...... just thinking it might.

Same here, EVERYTIME it rains now my dog is swimming in 18" inches of water !

I was recently visiting friends in this area and, to my utter amazement, this has not been repaired. Mr. and Mrs. Howard, on the corner of College Street and West Broad are being literally washed away. They have done so much to restore this beautiful old home only to see it being destroyed by water overflowing the "new" storm drains. I have seen videos of what looks like a "Katrina levy breach" washing into their yard and the yards across College Street and even into a neighbor's pool. WHAT IT IS GOING TO TAKE TO GET THE ATTENTION OF THE CITY??? Did you know that Mr. Howard has to deal with a flood in his basement with any substantial rain due to the city's inadequate "fix" of this problem? He has lost thousands of dollars in electrical equipment and restoration tools because of this water rushing through the foundation from the grossly inadequate storm drains at the corner and next to his house on College Street. PLEASE, wake up and help these people. Their insurance companies are putting blame squarely on the City of Newnan and refuse to help in any way. DO SOMETHING.......PLEASE!!
