I wondered how long it would take everyone to realize this. I don't think anyone could have said it better. The City pulled out several years ago. I don't think they realized the amount of work and effort they would have in responding to, or dealing with the issues presented on this site by our concerned citizens. They gave up. Once they pulled their support we stopped wasting our time. Your concerns fall on deaf ears except for the concerned citizens who read the posts. Perhaps the citizen at the address you posted will see it and remove the vehicle.
It was one guy at public works reading and forwarding issues to various departments. I heard he is not with the city anymore. If you go to www.haltomcitytx.com, you can contact city staff that way. To report street light outages go to www.oncorstreetlight.com.
To Wonder Woman If you are from this area you might understand the frustration residents have with our code enforcement, if you are cited by code enforcement it's only a piece if paper, if you don't want to comply you just ignore and residents stop complaining and give up! And this is just why our little city has become such an eyesore, no code enforceing
I think most residents respond to code violations accordingly, but if you don't respond the so called code citations could go on for over a year and you as the code violator can protest and string it out even longer, makes absolutely no sense at all!
To citizen helper, I can only speak from my experience with code enforcement, when I complained about a guy on the opposite block from me who continually uses his backyard for his parking, I allowed code officer to enter my yard to see, the thing he emphasized the most was am I willing to go to court about this because if code officers can't see it from the front of said house they can't do anything about it, I would have to attend to represent the city, that's just ludicrous! Again why bother.
Same here. The house behind me @ 1921 Oakwood (I think) has a effeciency apt in the back. Many years ago the man that owened the property was allowed to let his Mother live there, yet my Father was told he had to remove the house he had built (50's) as these were Single Family dwellings. Last time I looked at my Appraisal, it still shows Single Family Dwelling.... SO ?? why are they allowed to rent out &/or let people live there? Codes advised if they would not let them go in back yard to see it, they could do nothing. CODE is being violated, and they cant do anything???? Thats why the properties around here are rented and they rent to druggies, low lifes, and sex offenders. Go figure.
I completely understand your frustration, almost seems like a city philosophy to help the code violators get away with stuff as in tell them to build a fence or screen your property and nobody will be able to see the dozen wrecked vehicles in your back yard! I was asked by code enforcement was I willing to go to court about some code violations, if that's what it take I would welcome the opportunity!
I filed a complaint to HC website and today codes came by and took picture of truck in front yard (mind you 2 drive ways and no cars there, yet they park in middle of yard??) Also took picture of 3ft grass at side of house and a couple other pictures and posted sticker on truck and tag on front door. Now this was early morning, and the ole gal just got up (nearly 4pm) and went out to truck and left. geez. They think they still live south of the border. As far as the house in back.... he is still sawing and building on it. Guess its ok to not follw codes for some. A-1Single Family Dwelling on Appraisal must mean you can build it---they will come.
