Property owners not clearing their sidewalks is a serious problem all over the neighborhood. Of course it tends to be the same properties repeatedly. We really need some enforcement effort to change this situation. Is that LCI? Do they have the capacity to work on this?
I have requested this before via email to the Mayor's office:
With the next snowstorm announcement from the Mayor, please include the reminder that property owners are obliged to clear ALL sidewalks fronting their property. In particular, owners of corner properties are required to clear the sidewalks along both edges of their property, INCLUDING A CLEAR PATH TO THE STREET at curb cuts where the sidewalks extend to the curb.
The lack of shoveling has really gotten out of hand in Beaver Hills. We need some kind of enforcement or people are going to continue to not shovel their sidewalks.
We received your issue and will inspect it as soon as we can. We will continue to clean streets and public areas areas citywide to the best of our abilities and with our limited resources. We've spoken with many residents and understand your snow concerns and have tried to triage where possible. Thanks for reporting.
As spring arrives and street sweeping is soon to begin in earnest (April 1 ), we are closing 2021 snow related issues. With back-to-back events in February, we often didn't get a chance to close each storm's issues when completed. We do read and review issues and, when possible, try to adjust accordingly when and where we can. Thanks for your patience.
