Perhaps a speed bump on Brunswick street and Montgomery Street. Montgomery Street is a highway in both directions. Cars flying buy at really high speeds. No police present at all. When somebody get killed because of the drag racing and people driving. At high speeds. Perhaps then the city will do something about this.

Thank you for submitting this issue. Since, this is easement is not maintained by the City, we will reach out to Dixon Mills to see how they would like to remedy the situation.

Aside from Wayne Street, it's all of Brunswick. Cars absolutely fly down Brunswick Street after they cross Columbus, like a drag strip. My guess is an attempt to make the light perpendicular to Montgomery, but some of these folks appear to just take advantage of the wide road.

Additionally, perpendicular to the issue I described above, many cars also use the light at Columbus & Brunswick as a makeshift drag racing course as they approach the underpass at 78. For example, they wait at the light at Columbus & Brunswick, and absolutely floor it towards 78. It's incredibly loud and unsafe. I'm not sure how helpful this is as they do it at random times, but it's constant.

Just to add more detail, many times these are cars that you can tell from the look and sound that they have been modified. So it isn't just speed demons

This is - having crossed Brunswick recently and almost been hit twice by speeding cars driving southbound to Grand.

On 3/24/24, requestor asked, "Any update on striping this area?"

This issue has been discussed with one of our engineers. He noticed I had labeled this for re-striping. This is a request for a completely new crosswalk. This is being reviewed., as well as Brunswick and Mercer, which has not been requested, but we are looking at making the whole street from Columbus to Montgomery.

Everyone - Please keep making suggestions and asking for updates. This is very helpful.

I just received this update from our transportation engineer, who pulled this issue and was reviewing the area:

"Wayne Street between Brunswick and Monmouth is a private street, so I do not believe that we would be able to install a speed hump, FYI."

This means street signs as well. Anything on this portion that is owned by Dixon Mills would need to be addressed by Dixon Mills management.

But we will be addressing the issues on Brunswick, which is under the aegis of Jersey City.
