Lack of snow removal on Orange St. between Bishop and Edwards Streets, and on Edwards St. between Whitney Ave. and Orange St. There is quite a bit of snow and ice from the previous storm even where cars are not parked. Parking is very limited on both sides.

P.S- yelling won't make it any better. Be patient and eventually things will get better.

East Rock is a mess, mainly because of the people who flat out refuse to move their cars in advance of a storm. New Haven has limited resources, the past few winters have been incredibly difficult and have strained the PW budget, combine that with a whiny, insufferable and uncooperative public and you have a toxic mix of blame. If tickets are issued, people flood the city with complaints, if cars are towed, the same, if no one bothers to take personal responsibility and move their cars, rinse and repeat...
Every snow emergency the city makes low or no cost parking available downtown, every snow emergency I see cars unmoved and buried on the WRONG side of the damn road and every snow emergency people flock the see-click-bi*** to ache and complain about the city's poor response. Part of YOUR civic dity is to pay attention to the weather and move your damn car, OR walk down the street and knock on your neighbor's doors and get them to MOVE THEIR DAMN CARS!
You live in a highly populated area, in a downtown district with already incredible narrow streets, unless you can somehow suspend the laws of physics and make those streets larger or create a black hole all the displaced snow can move in to there will be snow blocking the road, there is no two ways about it. If you do not get your neighbors to move their cars there will be MORE SNOW blocking and narrowing the road.
Every street needs to take responsibility and preemptively follow common sense precautions and get the street clear and keep it that way until the emergency is over. But of course that would require talking to your neighbors and we have the government to do that for us.
I will be driving around tonight and will be posting pictures of cars still parked on the wrong side of the street on random streets in east rock and I will be calling out those who break the law, if people put in as much energy complaining about the city not doing its job and get out en force and make their neighbors responsible and keep them honest, there would be little or no need for this crap.

Starting the parking ban at midnight last Thursday instead of 6 PM, and posting no parking signs on the odd side of the street that night may have been more effective.

I encourage all residents to call the NHPD to report abandon autos that are covered in snow and request they get red tagged. If anything. Leave a call back number and insist that you are informed of the action taken if any- we need to start keeping city departments accountable for their in-actions.
If the city actually plowed where there where people actually moved their cars residents would be more apt to do it again- I for one have given up after three times moving my car and still they don't plow.
PLEASE STOP HIRING THESE LAME #$#%% CONTRACTORS IN PICK UP TRUCKS WHO DON'T EVEN USE THERE PLOWS then maybe we could get a street cleared.
