I am making this request for my elderly landlord for the upcoming storm on 2/13.
Thank you for requesting shoveling assistance via Snowcrew.org. My name is Joseph Porcelli and I am the founder and volunteer organizer of Snowcrew - It's great to meet you!
Snowcrew.org is an online matching tool that connects people who need help shoveling with nearby neighbors who can and want to help dig them out.
Those that qualify for shoveling assistance include the elderly, disabled, sick, pregnant, and injured neighbors who are not physically able to shovel or cannot afford to hire someone to dig them out.
Please know that others have found help by calling local churches, gyms, construction companies, VFW and American Legion Posts, and Knights of Columbus and asked for help. If on facebook, post to let your friends know you need help.
If anything changes or your end or you find alternate shoveling assistance, please let us know by posting a comment. By doing so, you will inform those who may be heading over to help you that you are all set and allow our volunteers shovelers and organizers to focus our efforts on others who need help.
Please also keep in mind it may take a couple of days to get dug out and most volunteers are only able to do so in the evening or on the weekend as most work during the day. As a volunteer, during the week, I help out in the early morning, during my lunch break and after work. On the weekends, I have more flexibility.
If you have not done so already, please sign up for our email updates so we can stay in touch -https://public.govdelivery.com/accounts/USNEIGHBORS/subscriber/new.
Please help spread the word out about Snowcrew - we provide the technology - you provide the neighbors. You can stay in touch with us and help spread the word by sharing out posts on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/snowcrew.org

There are good people in this area. Hopefully someone will see your post. I did get help from a neighbor across the street on Pitt Street and paid them $50. When I called for the last snow storm to do my walk and uncover my car, the Mother answered the phone, screamed I took advantage of her son, that he didn't get paid enough and hung up on me. Just then two youths wanted $70 for the same job. It's a difficult time, since money seems to be the object, not taking care of neighbors.
So glad this website & Joseph Porcelli are making a difference. I only wish I could help, but having had surgery, I can't do my own property. Best of Luck!
Thanks Della. I have lived in Bloomfield all my life and in the Family house all but two years. I have never seen weather like this. And while I'm watching the blizzard outside pile up, I too wonder who will dig me out. Just watch out for the money hungry in the area. They are taking advantage. Things aren't the same as when we were young and people cared. But at least the snow is light and fluffy, not heavy, unless we get rain. Good luck.
If you still need help or need help again, please submit a new request by logging into snowcrew.org and select "Request Assistance."
