You have a very good question. Trash pickup is delayed one day for the following holidays:

New Year's Day
Memorial Day
Fourth of July
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

Trash and recycling delays only occur on the holidays as specified by our hauler. Presidents day , for example is not a holiday for the trash hauling company. So there is no delay. If you e-mail me at jderisi@hamden.com I can send you a copy of the calendar that indicates all the holidays that there is no pickup. There are only four holiday delays this year. January 1st, May 31st, Sept 6, Nov 25. ( other holidays fall on weekends and so do not cause delays or they are not recognized by the hauling company as holidays. Note , however that pickups can be delayed by storms. Storm dealys will be posted on the front page of the town website under "announcements".
