Description
The corner of 34th and sansom is a tight corner which sees a lot of heavy truck traffic.
Therefore the rear wheels of these trucks frequently clip the corner.
This activity crushes the concrete holding the sewer hardware together.
About once a month a city crew comes and patches the concrete. The next week the same problem appears.
I'm no expert on street repairs but its clear that this needs to be fixed properly. At the moment the manhole cover is missing, the concrete is crushed and the plate is separating from the sidewalk.
What is usually an eyesore has become a real danger for pedestrians. It would be great if this corner was repaired properly once and for all.

It is clear that trucks are running over this corner when they are making the turn. Normally, structures on the sidewalk need not be rated for traffic. However, this one must be rebuilt to traffic standards in order to stand up to the load required of it. Alternatively, the corner could be redesigned to increase the radius thus reducing the tendency for trucks to ride their rear tires over the curb.

Problem resolved, the city did a good job of fixing this.
