Description
Memorial Field is covered with snow but the football season has started. I understand that Natick has never seen a need to plow turf fields in the winter. However, the athletic department is paying New England Baseball Complex to practice 30 minutes away when the football (and track) teams could be using their home field. Having ~50 players + ~ 10 coaches drive one hour round trip induces risk that should never have been required. Surrounding towns have procured the proper equipment to plow their turf, MetroWest Daily News has the pictures. Natick needs to get on board. A turf plow costs $4-5K. If the town cannot make this investment, ask the sports boosters. I'll gladly chip in. In addition to Memorial Field, the turf plow can be further utilized at Cole and the future Kennedy turf fields. All 3 fields should be plowed in the winter to provide green space for Natick residents and sports teams to continue their activities. Thank you.
