stop signs dont do anything, as seeing all the people whether it would be neighbors or people that avoid pasadena blvd completely, to blow through the stop signs along 86th ave as well. we need speed bumps put in.

Hi David, that is a great idea!! I requested stop or reduced speed signs but was basically told it'll be put on a list and they'll get to it when they get to it.

Mr. Schwartz did say that he would be in touch with the Pines Police Chief to have an officer sent to enforce the speed limits during the evenings when our children are playing.
My fiancé is a police officer as well and even with his cruiser parked out front they speed past and dont mind yelling or slinging profanity when spoken to kindly....

Since our conversation last month I have yet to see a change on our street and the problem persists. Is it going to take someone's child being harmed or worse, killed, to get something to happen? This is a major safety issue! Its especially alarming when my home and at least two others within throwing distance are all occupied by local law enforcement, military and fire personnel!

Still no update, no one has investigated and this is still a danger!! When will this be looked into?

I see police here from time to time but never at key moments when people fly down as if its a drag strip just like sheridan street. Do we really need to start video taping this and bring it down to the station or better yet the city hall to actually have this major danger taken care of. Or is someone going to get killed or seriously hurt to have this issue addressed. Or kids getting hit and the fact that there is issues about this being addressed and nothing being done.

Last week while the kids were playing outside, someone parked their car on the street with hazards as a caution and also placed 2 large orange cones with a sign that says Slow, kids playing.
After several people continued to speed past despite the sign and cones, I ended up dragging the cones in a way that anyone driving through had to navigate slowly through them to avoid hitting either the cones or other vehicles.
A large white utility van (white male driver and what looked to be a golden retriever) drove past. He came around the corner, saw the cones and cars and guess what?
HE SPED UP!!!!
Like a total @#$%-hat he accelerated just to be a jerk. Then yelled @#$% YOU" as he drove past.

Anyone got any more lame excuses for this?

I've had the same issue on 82nd Terr, which everyone cuts to avoid the light on Univ Drive and get to Taft. I've communicated with the Commissioner as well and had a police officer on his motorcycle sit on my driveway, but not one thing has been done. The officer sat at approx. 9am, for which I happened to be at home that day and went outside and told him it was early morning or rush hour. You have restaurant delivery driver and USPS drivers flying through here daily and not one officer has been here. I've advised the Commissioner that we need speed bumps, but will take stop signs if needed to at least slow them down. It cannot be that hard to determine if a stop sign is needed. A little common sense goes a long way.

We have directed city attorney and manager to revise our 1970s traffic agreement with the county. County controls all stop signa and has refused to give us what we need. Hope to bring an update August or September.

Following up on my previous concerns on cars speeding through 82nd Terr. Ample opportunity to add 2 to 3 stop signs or speed bumps. Any updates? Thanks

Speed bumps will only happen if we have about 80% of the neighbors signatures from down the street on a piece of paper agreeing with it. Already inquired about it. Stop signs wont help unfortunately but it would be help if everyone stopped for them.

has anything been updated? I almost got hit pulling out of my driveway on Friday. This is getting out of hand, because if I get hit, im going to show my insurance company this thread. This issue has been addressed for two years, nothing has been done, and no update has been even provided other than to revise the traffic agreement.

Same thing on 82nd Terr connecting from Taft to Pasadena Blvd...Mail carriers, food delivery drivers and everyone else trying to avoid traffic on Univ Dr cut through here at double or triple the posted speed limit. I've reported the issue mult times and I keep hearing the same excuse about some kind of law that doesn't allow for common sense to prevail. Add stop signs and the problem is fixed, or at least will slow them down. The residents don't care about the inconvenience of having to stop twice in this area. And truth be told, if they do, who cares....they should not be driving fast in the neighborhood. This is on a daily basis early morning and during rush hour. Please do something. Again, common sense should be applied here, not an outdated bylaw used 30 or 40 years ago.

We keep getting the run around. I've complained about 82nd Terr and Pines police sent someone to sit in my driveway at approx 9am (about a year ago) and I actually went out there and told the officer unless he came By earlier or after 4pm, it's a waste. Was told they didn't work late. I can't understand why they can't add stop signs and speed bumps...it's not rocket science!!

Unfortunately, the installation of additional stop signs and their locations, as well as most road signage, is regulated by Broward County Traffic and/or FDOT, not the City. You may however file a request to have speed humps installed through our engineering department.
