Description
A silver BMW with an expired inspection sticker has been parked here for months with no movement. It was tagged for towing and someone has removed the sticker yet the vehicle was never moved from the original spot. This is outside of the city ordinance for a vehicle to be parked on a city street for more than 10 days. Please tag and TOW this vehicle.

Well I suppose we need to educate the 1st Precinct Officers about city code violations. This vehicle was parked on a public street and it had an expired inspection sticker from LAST YEAR. The vehicle is clearly in violation. Here's the code...happy reading:
Sec. 102-362.1. Offenses relating to inoperable motor vehicles on streets and other public property.
(a)
It shall be unlawful for an owner, operator, driver or person in control to leave an inoperable motor vehicle, motor home, trailer or semitrailer unattended on any public property, including on any street or roadway or in any alley, for more than 48 hours.
Inoperable motor vehicle means any motor vehicle, trailer or semitrailer:
(1)
That is not in operating condition;
(2)
For a period of 60 days or longer has been partially or totally disassembled by the removal of tires and wheels, the engine, or other essential parts required for operation of the vehicle; or
(3)
On which there are displayed neither valid license plates nor a valid inspection decal. However, the term "inoperable motor vehicle" does not apply to any motor vehicle which is on the premises of a licensed business which on June 26, 1970, was regularly engaged in business as an automobile dealer, salvage dealer or scrap processor.
