The City of Kent partners with Kent residents and groups through our Adopt-A-Spot Stewardship program. This highly valued partnership with our Adopters plays a key role in maintaining our City. The City of Kent is accepting applications for new volunteers. The City provides volunteers supplies (bags, safety vests and litter grabbers) for litter pick up events as well as the disposal of any collected trash.

Thank you for contacting City of Kent Public Works. Our Special Emphasis crew responded and reviewed this request. Per their instruction I have forwarded this issue to our Police Department for an active homeless camp. They have determined that the items along the riverbank are in a spot that would be unsafe for our crews to clear, therefore we will not be retrieving them. If you would like to follow up on the status of the homeless camp please contact our police non-emergency line at 253-852-2121

So, what is the plan? Leaving the illegal dumping ought not to be an option in any shared & public space especially next to the environmentally sensitive Green River & along the highly trafficked Green River Trail.

At this time we are concentrating on picking up litter along roadsides and will get to this area when we can. Thank you for reporting this site. Our resources are limited and items have to be prioritized in way that will be of best use of our team. It will be removed as time allows.
